NERIO

Written by Peter Basilides
A bold composition of the raw power of a smoky fresh Mezcal, the elegance of mythical northern Juniper, all balanced by the bouquet of bittersweet herbs from the Mediterranean. This one will keep you warm by the fireside and fill you with desire in the heat of a summer night. Desire for Love, Southern Skies and the Sea. Also, a good counterpart to the sweetness of tropical fruits and chocolate rich desserts. This is the signature Cocktail aboard the luxury yacht Nerio, named after the Old Man of the Sea from Greek mythology.

Ingredients

  • 1 Part Mezcal Montelobos Ensamble (in any case a really smoky one!)
  • 1 Part Tanqueray Gin (or similar, strong in Juniper)
  • 1 Part Amaro Montenegro (or try Averna or Carpano Antica Formula)
  • 1 Dash Peychauds Bitter

Steps

  1. Stir well in mixing glass over ice
  2. Strain into a rocks glass over large ice cube
  3. Decorate with citrus zest - Grapefruit/Orange/Lime
