Herbal Hibiscus Sour

Written by Jennifer Long
I really enjoyed building the flavor profile of this drink. The hibiscus really needed the herbaceous notes from the Aloe liqueur and the salt really brought out the subtle flavors that were hiding behind the loud hibiscus syrup. Plus, I just really wanted to make a gorgeous drink for those gorgeous coupes. Recipe Serves 2

Ingredients

  • 3 oz Citadelle Gin
  • 2 1/4 oz Hibiscus Syrup
  • 1/4 oz Chareau Aloe Liqueur
  • 2 1/4 oz Fresh Lemon Juice
  • 2 Egg whites
  • 4 drops Saline
  • Dash Kosher Salt

Steps

  1. Add all ingredients into a shaker and shake without ice.
  2. Add ice and shake vigorously for at least 30 seconds to a minute.
  3. Strain into a coupe.
  4. Garnish with hibiscus petals.

Why not make something beautiful if you can? And the glassware! Everything tastes better in a beautiful glass with a great garnish. I use crystal perfume bottles to hold my bitters and tinctures. I love learning and there is always something new to learn in this craft.
