The Chocolate Fairy

Written by Tracey Planinz
The chocolate fairy is a twist on the traditional absinthe drink, the green fairy, with a sweet surprise! Banned in many countries for years, absinthe was falsely identified as a hallucinogenic. However, its powerful effects are certainly masked by its sweet herbaceous flavor. The chocolate fairy may not give you visions, but there is still something magical about her!

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 ounces absinthe
  • 1 ounce triple sec
  • Half ounce crème de cacao
  • 2 ounces club soda
  • Crushed ice
  • Start anise or black licorice stick to garnish

Steps

  1. Gently stir the absinthe, triple sec and créme de cacao until the color is even. Add the club soda and pour into slender drink glass with crushed ice. Top with whole star anise or a black licorice stick. Sip and enjoy!
